Module 6
WHY?
This Google Site was created as a centralized hub to support student learning, family engagement. In a world where students and parents are navigating multiple platforms, having one streamlined digital space that brings together resources, assignments, expectations, and communication tools helps reduce cognitive load and anxiety.
The site empowers families to take ownership of their students’ learning by giving them clear access to homeschool planning, resources and organization. It also supports 21st-century digital literacy by modeling how to use web tools to organize, reflect, and communicate learning — skills that are essential across content areas and helpful to model for students. This site provides a transparent, flexible, and accessible platform for connection and growth.
WHAT?
Parents can navigate through the pages via the left-hand menu bar. Each page is labeled clearly for purpose (e.g., “Homeschool Foundations,” “Learning & Homeschool Styles,” etc.) The site’s purpose is to house homeschool content and resources in a single, organized location.
The following standard is addressed in this activity:
- 21st Century Learning Skills – Collaboration, communication, and digital literacy.
The Google Sites features used on this site are:
- Pages to organize information by topic and purpose (curriculum, tech help, learning targets).
- Custom Themes for a visually cohesive and accessible layout.
- Multimedia elements (images, videos) to enhance visual learning and engagement.
HOW?
I will introduce the site to parents and students through a guided tour and encourage them to bookmark it for regular reference. Weekly reminders and task links will point back to the site so students and families develop the habit of returning to it. Teachers collaborating with me will be shown how to contribute to or link content through shared docs or co-editing permissions.
In order to receive feedback from families I will create a Google Form to survey families on the effectiveness of the site. Do they like the format/lay out? Do they find the resources helpful? Is there anything else useful that they feel should be included? I will then take this information and use it to revise and update the site as needed. Gathering this data will allow me to understand what’s working well or what is unclear.
In addition to the survey, Google Analytics will show which pages are visited most often and may help me refine the layout or content. I’ll conduct periodic reviews to make sure the site stays updated with current curriculum and tech tools, and keep a log of improvements for future versions.
This Google Site acts like a digital home base for everything new homeschool families need to know. It empowers them to navigate resources with confidence, supports transparency with families, and models best practices for digital communication. As I continue to evolve the content and design based on user feedback and classroom needs, I’m building not just a site — but a living, breathing learning ecosystem.
